Where do my theorems wander?

Geometry came to me from a humble farmer
Who measured his land near the Nile River
And came via a visionary who said space may not have a parallel
And via my teacher who taught a priori soap bubbles

    Making a companion with geometry
    I learned and studied proof-writing
And composed stories of my own theorems
Where, then, do my theorems wander?

They went first to a philosopher
Who believes the truth of life is not always provable
    And went to a writer
Who wonders why proving a theorem is like telling a story

And finally, my theorems have soared to the sky
To nameless stars in the Milky Way
    Glistening down upon us
Telling stories of beauty and harmony

Yet the fascinating problems that I fail to solve
Disheartening me, where did they go?
    They are still playing hide-and-seek
Giving an illusion to many a mathematician

In the atlas of mathematics, the Nile River is flowing
Past you and me all the way to the Milky Way
But somewhere between the Nile and the galaxy
Lies the purgatory of our unsolved problems

Yet high above, my stars will get along
With your stars until the world's very end
