About KIAS
KIAS(Korea Institute
for Advanced Study)
is located at the north-east part of Seoul. It was incepted in October of 1996
under the support of Korean government with strong commitment to the excellence
of research in basic sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology).
Located on a 30-acre site in Hong-neung, which has been the Seoul branch campus
of KAIST, the Institute provides a
research-friendly atmosphere with a full access to the state-of-the art
research facilities. KIAS is currently operating three Schools, which is the
School of Mathematics, School of Physics, and School of Computational Sciences.
KIAS has many visiting scholars from home and abroad, and organizes numerous
international conferences, symposia, workshops, and lecture series, in which
several renowned scientists participated including Nobel Laureates and Fields
Medalists. Given its global environment - faculty and research bodies composed
of diverse nationality, competitive programs developed by the world¡¯s most
recognized scholars and scientists, KIAS welcomes as much interactions as
possible with universities and research organizations around the world.
