Quantum Information Theory in Many-Body Physics: Entanglement Area Law Over the last decade or so, quantum information theory has emerged as an indispensable tool in studying strongly-correlated many-body systems. In this talk, I briefly overview some important quantum-information-based approaches to many-body physics and introduce the entanglement area law as one of the most important theoretical foundations underpinning the whole framework thereof. I discuss an intuitive picture in which the entanglement area law naturally emerges in typical gapped many-body systems.
